Commercials Are The Real Content
The following is from a frustrated viewer of cable TV's so-called educational programming.
"I have written you before so I don't know why I bother. I wrote because I don't feel anyone who pays for the Discovery, History, Science and other so-called learning channels ARE NOT getting what we pay for. That is, unless of course you feel we like constant repeats and shows that have nothing to do with the respective channels.
These channels advertise "all new" oddities and program content. I checked and every one is a repeat. If you can't come up with new shows, why don't you take these channels off? If you can't provide new shows for those of us who would like to learn something, why do you run this programming over and over? We cannot learn watching the same thing over and and over and over and...."

Publisher's Note:  Does anyone still recall the promises of the cable companies during the latter years of the 1970s? They urged Americans to contact their Congressional representatives to demand that they pass legislation allowing for development of cable channels. In return these companies promised all Americans that they would provide commercial-free, high quality programming with wide-ranging content. Americans would pay one flat fee and receive uninterrupted entertainment.
Instead, today Americans receive repetitive reruns -- that are as redundant as that phrasing. Included with this valueless content are more commercials than a person would care to watch even if he were stranded on Gilligan's Island.
